Carson’s Crusaders Foundation 5th Annual Superstar Sibling Event at Great Wolf Lodge
April 29, 2017 carsonsCRU

Carson’s Crusaders Foundation’s “Superstar Sibling” event will be held May 5-6, 2017 at Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, Texas. The Foundation will roll out the red carpet to 108 family members, including 50 superstar siblings, affected by solid tumor pediatric cancer. Carson’s Crusaders Foundation is the ONLY organization in North Texas that offers support to siblings of children fighting solid tumor cancer.

Twenty families will be provided with a one-night stay at Great Wolf Lodge, with an all-access pass to amenities, including the water park, from 1:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon through 9:00 p.m. on Saturday evening. This amazing event will honor all family members but the stars of the weekend are the siblings and they will be honored at a special celebration Friday night where Carson’s Crusaders Foundation volunteers will lavish them with food, fun activities, prizes and more. A DJ will lead activities throughout the night along with arts and crafts, face painting, bounce houses, and more. The remainder of their stay will be filled with water park fun, food, a MagiQuest Adventure and gift cards for hotel entertainment.
Siblings, often referred to as the “forgotten ones” in a cancer family, are the STAR of this event and Carson’s Crusaders Foundation offers them an opportunity to be surrounded by others experiencing very similar circumstances. Events are planned to put the focus on the sibling and to promote interaction and establish relationships. Studies show that 80% of siblings of pediatric cancer patients suffer from some form of post-traumatic stress disorder with 54% of them being moderate to severe cases.

About Carson’s Crusaders Foundation

Carson’s Crusaders Foundation was established in memory of Carson Richardson, who lost his battle with Hepatoblastoma cancer in 2010 at the age of 7. The Foundation, established by Carson’s parents, Kimberly & Ryan Richardson, along with George Richardson, Carson’s grandfather, provides assistance to families affected by solid tumor pediatric cancers. Services include travel assistance, sibling support, and childhood cancer awareness. Carson’s older brother Collin is the original “Superstar Sibling” for which the sibling support program was created. Over the last five years, the Foundation has provided more than $75,000 in sibling support programs to families in need.

Carson’s Crusaders Foundation received its 501c3 nonprofit recognition in October 2011. The Board and its volunteers are currently involved in fundraising projects to support planned outreach activities.
