We couldn’t think of a more fitting & fun way to kick off our fundraising efforts than to partner up with Allen Sports Association for a Baseball Blast! Carson loved baseball & played in the league until he lost his battle with Hepatoblastoma in 2010.
Over 150 baseball teams were given the opportunity to participate. Throughout the season players collected donations with the objective of collecting the most pledges.
… Rough Rider game tickets were awarded!
Josh Charles raised $1500 in honor of his grandfather who was battling brain cancer
One of the more popular aspects of the event was the “Wooden Nickel” – a small wooden disk with Heart, Courage and Endurance printed around the edges and a star in the center. Each coach picked out a player from the opposing team who best demonstrated these attributes during each game.
It was the talk of the crowd!
All teams were treated to a day of fun at their end of season tournament. Bounce houses, face painting, a Home Run Derby & other baseball challenges were enjoyed by all.
The event raised over $30,000, making it possible for Carson’s Crusaders Foundation to launch it’s Siblings Smiles program and Transportation programs for families with children being treated at affiliated hospitals: Medical City Children’s Hospital, Children’s Medical Center Dallas and Legacy Campus in Plano, and Cook Children’s Hospital.
