Following the retirement of founding Executive Director, George Richardson, Carson’s Crusader’s Foundation is proud to announce Sharon Bothelo as the new Executive Director as of March 1st. Richardson, the grandfather of Carson Richardson, for whom the Foundation is named, began the 501(c)3 organization along with his son and daughter-in-law, Ryan and Kimberly Richardson in 2011. Under his leadership, the organization has flourished and succeeded in providing continually more support and assistance to families affected by pediatric solid tumor cancer each year.
Bothelo started volunteering with the Foundation in early 2014 after learning about the Foundation through a fundraiser with Allen Sports Association. Having a son the same age as Carson, she was inspired by the amazing work being done by the Foundation and she began serving on the fundraising and marketing committees.
In December 2014 she joined the Board of Directors as the Marketing Chairperson. Bothelo resigned her Board Member position in in June of 2016 to become the first and only employee for the Foundation as Associate Director.
Bothelo brings years of leadership and management experience to the position. She previously held the position of Vice President of Operations for Berkadia Investment Services as well as several other key roles in the real estate and financial industries.
Carson’s Crusaders Foundation will continue to benefit from her efficiency and resourcefulness as Executive Director and we know she will carry on the legacy of strong, passionate leadership and guidance begun by founding Executive Director, George Richardson.
Carson Richardson lost his battle with Heptablastoma at the age of 7 in February 2010. His desire to help others continues through Carson’s Crusaders Foundation.
