GO TO BAT FOR CHILDREN BATTLING CANCER UPDATE

Thanks to our sponsors and the participating Allen Sports Association baseball teams, the “Go to Bat for Children Battling Cancer” fundraiser raised over $20,000 to provide support and assistance to children and families fighting childhood cancer.

Go to Bat

Over the course of the spring season, ASA baseball teams competed for prizes as they collected donations for Carson’s Crusaders Foundation. 30 teams participated in the fundraiser this year.

The Carson Coin

As part of the Go to Bat Fundraiser, Carson’s Crusaders Foundation once again provided ASA coaches with wooden coins to hand out to players from opposing teams who demonstrated qualities of endurance, courage and heart. The player who received the most coins over the course of the season was recognized with a giant trophy at the finale event.

As simple as a gas card

It’s hard to imagine how something as simple as a gas card could significantly impact a family that is fighting childhood cancer. But once you hear the stories of the families we serve, you begin to understand how childhood cancer stresses families and devours their finances. A gas card often gives loving parents the means to seek the best possible care for their child.

  • We serve a family that travels twice a month from Amarillo to Fort Worth in order to get the best cancer treatment for their toddler.
  • We serve a family whose child has a terminal brain tumor. Our assistance allowed them to travel to a trial that gave them hope for more time or a cure.
  • We serve a teenager with permanent hair loss caused by chemotherapy. Our gas card allowed her to travel to be fitted for a wig.

Carson’s Crusaders Foundation has provided gas cards and parking vouchers to over 50 families since we began delivering services this past January. Thanks to our sponsors and the participating ASA players, we will be able to continue serving these families as they battle childhood cancer!
